what are the types of cloth diapers?

when I first started looking into using cloth diapers, I was SO overwhelmed by all of the types of diapers and the confusing names. I really couldn’t understand the difference no matter how many articles I read. when I teach about cloth diapers, i’ve realized that putting them into these categories is much easier.

Type 1: diaper + cover

This type of diaper has two pieces: an inner piece that is absorbent and an outer piece that is waterproof (called a cover.) For this diaper you must have both pieces; they’re usually sold separately. The inner pieces are called

type 2: diaper + insert

This type of diaper also has two pieces: an inner piece that is stuff or snapped into the outer piece. These systems, unlike diapers + covers, are sold as a set. They are also called
